The Commissioner for Education Mrs Folasade Adefisayo carried out her first official visit to the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) at the GRA Ikeja office to ascertain the level of development of Technical Education in the State and how to effectively move forward. She said everything has to be done to ensure that Technical and Vocational Education is well regulated and rebranded to create confidence of youths, parents and guidance in technical education.
Speaking further during the visit, inside the conference room of the Board, Mrs Adefisayo enjoined all the five principals to be up and doing, checking on students and their activities while in the school premises rather than being in their offices throughout the day, adding that Instructional Leadership, a program ran by British Council will be embraced for the principals towards ensuring good teaching.
In her presentation on moving Technical Education forward, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Ms Moronke Azeez highlighted LASTVEB eight development priority areas over the next 18 months. She also stated that new courses will be introduced while current courses will be reviewed, to align with industry, the needs of the local community and in tune with the 21st century technical education.
