Ojuolape Dorcas Olufunmilayo – Ex GTC Ikorodu Student

I love drawing and arts and I also wanted to become a medical doctor. I figured that the Government Technical College will give me the opportunity to combine both of my science and arts courses so I enrolled for painting and decoration at GTC Ikorodu. In 2016, the Bank of Industry invited several technical colleges for their annual competition and I came overall best in the painting and decoration aspect.

I went to Abuja to receive my awards and from there I was sponsored for a 9-month training in Screeding and Company Packaging at Sharon Paints Enugu.  This was sponsored by both the BOI and Sharon Paints. Shortly after that, I was also selected for a scholarship by the Artisan school for Decorative Painting.

I went back to school to further my education. I am currently a student of Fine and Applied Arts at the Federal College of Education and Technology, Akoka.  I started my own company, Smiling Colours Decorative Painting which specializes in Interior designs, Italian designs, Almighty plaster finish and wallpapers.  I am also a tutor at Honey Treats Trade Academy. I have no regrets about not studying medicine as planned I fell in love with my painting and I am proud of how far I have come.
