Ms Azeez served as a Special Adviser in the Lagos State Government from 2007-2015. As one of the leaders in the education sector, she was integral to various initiatives designed to reform the sector. She is credited with managing and leading major initiatives of the Lagos State Government designed to improve quality and students’ learning outcomes. The Lagos Eko Secondary Education Project supported over 500,000 Public Schools Students in 670 Secondary Schools, over 7,000 Teachers and School Administrators. During her tenure, the World Bank rated the Lagos Eko Project excellent for achieving and meeting its objectives.
Ms. Azeez was part of the team constituted the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB), while she was instrumental to the conception and development of four private-sector partnerships in Mechatronics, Power, Electrical and Automotives trade areas leading to increased access and opportunities for students.
She chaired a number of education sector wider committees- Access for primary school children into secondary schools; reform of the statewide schools’ inspection department reform of assessment processes for Junior and Senior Secondary Schools; statewide distribution of Textbooks for Primary & Secondary. Over the last 30 years, Moronke has worked in Nigeria and the UK. She held management positions in International Development Agencies. She is an effective change agent who has successfully led and delivered a number of projects in Social Services, Health Education and Community Development to improve service delivery and quality of life of target groups.
Ms. Moronke Azeez is currently an Executive Director of Sages Consults Ltd, Her area of focus is social development, education management, organisational development, and project management. Ms. Azeez holds two master’s degrees in management from the London School of Economics (LSE) and Cranfield University both in the UK. She is a fellow of the UK Chartered Management Institute.
Ms. Moronke Azeez was appointed by Mr. Governor, Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu on the 28th October 2019.
